The Department of Public Works
maintains City Streets; Iron Removal Plant, Water Tower, City Wells, and the Waste
Water Treatment Plant as well as maintaining the equipment to provide services to
City Residents.
Utility Information -
Water & Sewer Service is provided by
The City of Hartford 621-2477 for start or transfer of service.
Electric Service is provided by
American Electric Power 800-311-4634
Gas Services is provided by
Consumers Energy 800-477-5050
Lawn Meters - are offered to
customers who use a lot of water on outside
recreation (garden, pool, washing car's) for $50.00, this allows customers
to receive a credit on the sewer portion of their bill. Meters become the
responsibility of the customer; meter reads must be turned prior to the 15th
of the month for credit on the next month's bill. If meters are left out
they can freeze and break and if repairable will cost $25.00 for repair.
Tap-in Fees - for water/sewer
distribution - for City residential customers,
Water $500.00, Sewer $400.00 + meter, time & materials. Non-City
residential customers Water $750.00, Sewer $600.00 + meter, time &
materials. Center Street water/sewer tap-in fees are calculated based on a
specific formula; please call City Hall for additional information.
