resources & to encourage coordination of efforts in the planning & development of
parks & recreation projects & for the protection of open space & natural resources.
I-94 Corridor Economic Development Plan
The I - 94 Corridor provides
unprecedented economic development potential for the Cities and Townships of
Hartford & Watervliet. Currently, this area mainly contains agricultural uses,
vacant land and interspersed residential and commercial lands. Over the next
several years, with effective planning and the support of local property owners
and citizens, this area can become the region's premier light and heavy industrial

Safe Routes 2 School
The City of Hartford and Hartford Public Schools are partnering to provide a
safe route to school. Safe Routes 2 School is a national movement to make
it safe, convenient and fun for children to bicycle and walk to school.
When routes are safe, walking or biking to and from school is an easy way to
get the regular physical activity children need to succeed. Some of the
goals for this project are to improve Street Lighting, Sidewalks, Bike Paths
and Safety along the routes to school.

The Safe Routes 2 School Team
welcomes your comments, observations and
participation. The purposes of Safe Routes to School programs are: To
enable and encourage children, including those with disabilities, to walk
and bicycle to school;

Well Head Protection
Well Head Protection is the
protection of our source of drinking water. The
water underlying the City is the sole source of our drinking water;
therefore protecting it will protect public health, maintain economic base
and enhance the quality of life and protect a vital natural resource. The
City of Hartford has partnered with Hartford Public Schools to educate
students on the importance of protecting our ground water and distribute
items such as pens, pencils, water bottles, t-shirts coffee mugs and hats
for the Well Head Protection Program.
